RE: New Repository for EBICSby

Can we have an official standpoint of the OCA board on this ?
If this is the official OCA standpoint than I’ll maintain this module in a non-OCA repo but all contributions remain welcome of course.
Seen the country-specific flavours of the EBICS protocol, we should ideally have banking specialist of the main EBICS countries collaborating on this functionality.

The question is that don't allow in OCA that kind of modules depending on something not opened, so you should move to an open source dependency, or keep the module in your repositories.

I looked at the lib from Aurelien and decided to base the odoo module on the more advanced closed-source lib from joonis.
There will be a lot of work to get aurelien’s work up to the level of the fintech ebics lib.
This lib comes with a one-time license fee of 500 EUR hence no business case to start a large development project.
Once the repo is there, any PR to move the code to a fully functional open source equivalent is of course welcome but I am not sure we will be able to sponsor such a development and find enough ongoing resources to maintain the code of this rapidly evolving protocol.
there is this open source python librairy written by Aurelien Dumaine(member of OCA I think) it's maybe worth to have a look at it
I don't know if the librairy does the job or if it's stable, no addtional commit have been done since 2015 but it's at least open source

Pedro, AFAIK ebics standard allows you also to retrieve your bank statements from your bank so it's not only payment related

@syephane: For the library, I wasn't aware.. I'll see to this. Do you think it is an issue?
@pedro: I understood we were moving for smaller repo with better defined maintainers, so I proposed a new one. What do you think?

Why not using OCA/bank-payment?

On the behalf of Luc, I want to propose to create a new repo for EBICS set of modules on Odoo.
EBICS stands for Electronic Banking Internet Communication Standard. It aims to be able to transfer files with banks over the internet. It supports also the SEPA files and is very wildly use in Europe.
Name of the repo: account-ebics
Maintainer: Luc De Meyer (https://github.com/luc-demeyer)
Current code can be found here: https://github.com/luc-demeyer/noviat-apps
I'm proposing this here cause I think having this under the OCA will favor the collaboration between all actors.
Do you agree ?
