Hello,
Pedro and I had a very informative and pleasant video conference. We both went through our modules and saw features that can go well together.
The agreement was that in the same budget that is set now I will have the following responsibilities:
* Update the current OdooMRP modules to adapt to the logic that the campaign modules bring in (Convergence of base models + attribute restriction rules).
* Delivery of perks as the campaign suggests.
* Delivery of the modules in the campaign, maintenance and release of future features as opensource.
If the campaign succeeds naturally several parts of code will have to be reviewed. This is where anyone in the community can pitch in so all the modules land safely and in working order to OCA repositories.
Nonetheless it is most likely that Pedro and the OdooMRP team will take on a large portion of this task given their activity levels and experience on this project and others alike for that matter. As such these reviews and contributions can range from simple suggestions to more complex and time-consuming. This is why we agreed that if overfunding occurs funds will be redirected to them for carrying out these tasks.
Depending on the overfunding (if any) responsibilities will be slowly transferred to Pedro and OdooMRP team. Ranging from small amounts where reviews or contributions are funded up to the amount of 10K estimated by Pedro where the full responsibility of merging the modules will be completely transferred to them.
In the very fortunate case of a larger overfunding milestones can be defined for more features regarding backend / frontend configurator or OCA operations (Building blocks, Migration to version 10, new modules and/or features etc)
I believe that with this everything is set and it offers closure to the project's direction and includes all parties in multiple forms.
Joel, tell me what modifications you think are needed to the campaign text and how we can proceed forward from this point.
As a side-note we have started migrating slowly to V9 (previous attempts have been halted because of core bugs). Also a online instance has been setup for everyone to take a look and have a hands-on experience with the modules:
There are two databases: Variant_Configurator / Variant_Configurator_OdooMRP
Both databases have user/pass admin:admin. The first one is just the product_config and website_product_config modules installed while the other is the same but with all the OdooMRP installed alongside them.
On the second database I noticed there is a error on the web form but most likely it's an easy fix and will go about it soon. Please bare in mind that it is free for all so depending on changes made by others it might cause confusion.
Also wanted to add that even though it was not meant to be released for public use and employs a LOT of hacks and experimental/business-specific approaches, the backend configurator will be shared for informational purposes. It might or might not serve as a future backend configurator wizard but nevertheless it might help.
