Hello,
Thanks a lot, Enric, for sharing the stats on the OCA repo. It's great for the transparency on how the stats are built and to see the results each month.
Quote: "OCA has showed not much interest on generating this information.
The code was offered to them several times and they refused to do the job themeselves.").
--> This was then softened, thanks for that!
I personally spent a lot of hours to understand how the stats were done with you, to discuss with a few people (in particular Stéphane Bidoul) about the best way to integrate those stats in our architecture, and this ended in the Request for Quoted (RFQ-2)
Link to the RFQ-2 (by the way, deadline on 21st September!):
Please, anyone interested in those big topics, answer the RFQ! We thought of the architecture in Odoo database but we are open to other options.
So this is on our radar, it has been for many months, and will be in the next months as well, as part of the big work started to get robust and profesionnal tools for the OCA, and for which we need a big effort of funding (
https://odoo-community.org/fund-the-oca).
Regarding the open questions in the end of Enric's email:
"- How can we keep contribution statistics as a regular, neutral resource?
- How can governance and community contributions stay closely connected?
- What other forms of transparency would help us all feel engaged?"
I have the feeling that those questions are in the scope of existing Working Groups (Governance WG and Community Health WG).
The scope of the WG are here:
I invite the people interested in those topics to contact the leaders of the WG (Denis Roussel and Daniel Reis).
The Board Election will be held in the next months. Any Delegate can candidate, and it is a good opportunity to get new energy and initiatives regarding the governance questions, and as stated by Enric, to also diversify the Board composition to reflect the diversification of our contributors base.
Have a nice day everyone. Thanks again for sharing the stats and thanks to all contributors!
