Same hier. In our case VPN is definitely prefered but the approach is the same. Direct "read restricted" access to the PG Instance is sufficently fine for PowerBI reports / analysis of all sorts

I have a customer that uses Power BI to connect to the Odoo database. Simply use the Postrgres-Connector and make sure that the Odoo DB is exposed with cert auth and ip filtering.

Also if possible use Apache Superset instead of Power BI for various reasons.
