Synching and Odoo workers

Hi,
I have a quick question concerning the speed with which synching operations take place with respect to workers.
We are using the magento connector (8.0.3.0.0) to sync with Magento (1.9.0.1, fully patched), and have the connector configured to use the job runner. Odoo is set to have 10 workers.
Unfortunately, it appears to be taking upwards of several seconds for each sales order that is synced across from Magento. Does that seem normal? Are there steps I could follow to speed that up or at least debug why it's so slow? At the moment the log level is set to debug, but there doesn't appear to be much of value in there.
