Recommendation for Practitioner scheduling

I am interested in using Odoo for managing the working schedules for Practioners.  For example a Nurse might be scheduled to work in the Emergency Room during a specific time-frame. I expect to have to do some custom work but was curious if those familiar with the Medical apps might have some guidance from similar experience.

Browsing the source code briefly, I noticed that the MedicalAbstractEntity base model inherits res.partner but Practitioner does not reference hr_employee, even for those Practitioners where practitioner_type='internal'.  If there has not been any prior scheduling module(s), is there any guidance to how one might integrate with the HR features? Just seeking suggestions to try to help any work I do to be relevant as migrations occur.
