Thanks for all your answers and valuable input. Following your advice, I choose option 1 and created a new module stock_product_ul, available in this PR :

The PR also contains the port of the module "stock_packaging_usability_ul" to v10, to make it easy to test both modules together.
Pedro has suggested on the PR to merge 3 modules :
- stock_product_ul (the new module)
- stock_packaging_usability
- stock_packaging_usability_ul
- stock_packaging_usability
- stock_packaging_usability_ul
As I plan to always use these 3 modules together, I'm OK to merge these 3 modules, but other people may have different opinions. So you are invited to give your opinion directly on the PR https://github.com/OCA/stock-logistics-tracking/pull/18
