Hi Rafael,

We have been fortunate to have been deploying BI tools since around 2005. We connect them with the software that customers use.

Regarding Odoo, we never connect them to a production instance directly again. We prefer a replica of the Postgres DB in real time connected to the olap cube or directly connected in jdbc with a dedicated user and a read-only role.

Sometimes customers already have their own tools.

When this is not the case, we offer them open source.

I have used Jaspersoft products for a long time. But, since the takeover by Tibco, I'm less of a fan. In recent years we have turned to other OSS like Superset, Metabase and Redash. 
They each have their advantages and disadvantages depending on what you are looking for and this deserves an article in its own right on our blog.

Also, you were talking about API, we use it in the context of automation, but it's another subject than BI a priori
