For me, just the ability to define reporting periods would be sufficient, although the ability to lock out date ranges (a.k.a periods) is useful.

Additionally, I think it would be a good idea to have dynamic reporting periods like "RQ1" (this rolling quarter) + "LY-RQ1" + "RQ2" etc, "R12M " (rolling 12 months), LY-R12M. Although possible, it is time consuming and error prone, attempting this current V9 financial reporting. Also, the ability to store selections so they can easily be used again. All these changes are really only to the reporting module, and although I'm not so much of a tech guy any more (sigh), I believe Odoo S.A. have made it "easy" to do these sorts of extensions (according to Quentin).

Hello Stephane,

I know that you have a specificity on your current project

Which project? :) No nothing for a specific project, I'm just trying to find the best solution.

but I do not want to be obliged to use period since the accounting date do the job because end-users then will ask for group by, advanced filtering, analysis views, reports...with periods.

That's a valid point.
