Re: Leads to Web Shop on behalf of the Customer

I am not very familiar with the website and the shopping cart, but can we pass the lead / customer in the context or session of the cart?

A cart is just a quote, but using the website_order_line field instead of the order_line. Our plan was to have the sales rep work a quotation like normal, then provide a button to move the order_lines over to website_order_lines. That will “push” the items into the customer cart, which would allow a standard e-commerce checkout from there.

The one gotcha here is that the customer would need an account in advance, although a crafty sales rep could just create one for them & send the invite link.

Hi Dave,

Yes it is. The website is nicer to show to the customer and he can have the same experience when he returns home or check the website later. We don't want to show the backend interface to the customer.

The "New Quotation" button click could trigger:
  1. the quote creation with the customer and then
  2. the opening of the website shop
I don't know much about the technical options / constraints, but I am open to any approach.

Thanks.

Hey Max,

We have a customer looking to do something very similar, although not within the checkout process. Is it a requirement to go through e-commerce, and not to simply be able to push a quotation into a customer’s cart?

Hello,

I have a customer who targets the following sales scenario:
  • Sales rep works on a lead. Lead is linked to a customer record.
  • Before meeting face-to-face with the customer, the Sales rep clicks on the "New Quotation" button on his tablet. He is brought to the Odoo Website shop page.
  • While showing his tablet to the customer, he goes through the shopping cart process and enter customer info (addresses). The info is related to the customer record (not the Sales Rep record)
  • At the end, he gets a draft quotation related to the customer (not the Sales rep).
Do you have any feedbacks/ideas on how to implement this? How would we impersonate the customer during the website process?

Thanks.
