Wouldn’t a domain on the field be applied before you click ‘Search more’ ?

Thanks Jean Marc. What you say makes sense, and will proceed with this approach. 

 

It is a pity, however that the default filters will only be applied when you press 'Search more', not in the initial dropdown list.

Relating to the invoice & delivery address listed on sales order, when a user wants to change it from the default proposed on a sales order, Odoo will let the user select from all the list of partners available in the database.

  Two simple examples :

  • It's a gift: the delivery address is not related to the ordering partner.

  • It's a leasing: the invoice goes to a third party for payment.

  You can't just block this option, but you could maybe set up a removable filter which will force you to "Search more..." in those rare cases above.
