+1 to not try to ship services, lot's of impact as Eric said. 

If the need is to have a delivery note with service included, I suggest to build a report based on so. 

If the need is to monitor the service delivery, I suggest to use task. 

If both, then Eric suggestion is the best suited I would say.

Migrating to v10 we decided to remove it (too many impacts on the core logistics engine) and enhanced the QC object (linked to PO or SO) with a new type "Service Acceptance" to "receive" the services (unfortunately we cannot disclose that module)
